Yes. The whole city is free. There's a store, and everything in it is cosmetic, recognition, or a shorter wait at the door. Nothing sold anywhere makes you stronger than the person next to you.
Yes, if the application shows you understand what you're signing up for. New players get accepted here regularly. What gets refused is low effort, not inexperience.

No. The show is the city's identity — music is one part of it, next to the businesses, the jobs, the crews, the league and the broadcast. Plenty of people here never touch the booth.
During beta the city is invite-only. If you connect before you're approved, the door shows you a short code. Put it in the application and, once you're approved, the door recognises your game account the next time you connect — no waiting on an email. Applied without one? Fine — we'll tell you what to do next.
Yours. You own what you make in the Lab, the booth and the Cypher. You give the city permission to play it, keep it, broadcast it and use it to promote the city — everything else stays with you, including releasing or selling it elsewhere. The full wording is on the legal page.
